BIOCHEMISTRY AND MOLECULAR BIOLOGY RESEARCH DAY @ Biltwell Event Center The Department had the annual research day event in the Indianapolis downtown. Chan and Jisun presented their research projects by posters and oral presentations. It was great all the department members gathered and shared science together. Beautiful fall weather, great food and drinks, nice place, and fun science. |

Solaema's farewell lunch. We walked together to the canal in beautiful weather. Solaema will be on maternity leave for some time. She has been working in the lab for three years as the very first lab member. We really appreciate her hard work and positive energy she brought in. Solaema will be missed. We wish all the best to her and her family! |

Kyungchan "Chan" Kim joined the lab as a postdoc research fellow, starting on December 1st. He received his Ph.D. from Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST), Korea this summer. His Ph.D. work was focused on the function of brain-derived insulin on growth and metabolism. We're very excited to have another talented scientist joining our team. Welcome aboard, Chan! |

Soumilee Chaudhuri, a first year PhD student in the IBMG program, started her first rotation in the lab. Soumilee has previous research experiences in metabolomics analysis with osteocytes and more. It is our pleasure to have her rotating in the lab. We hope she can explore and enjoy our exciting research projects. Welcome, Soumilee! |

Dr. Roh was awarded his first R01 research grant from NIH / NIDDK. The NIH R01 grant is a major research award for independent investigators and provides a long period support with a large amount of funding. This R01 award will support our beige adipocyte plasticity project. This is fantastic news! |

Quantitative Real Time PCR machine with a 384-well plate has arrived in the lab. It was possible with the generous support from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology for the new assistant professors Dr. Evan Cornett and Dr. Hyun Roh. It will definitely promote efficient research progress. It will be ready to run once lab hibernation is over. It is open to anyone in the Department after trainings. Ask Dr. Roh for details. |
